Complete Packing Guide for Bir May 2026

senior women's trips

If you’re heading to Bir with us this May, here’s the one thing you need to know: the mountains here don’t believe in being predictable.

Mornings begin crisp, afternoons feel sun-kissed, evenings call for a cozy layer, and every now and then, a soft mountain drizzle makes a surprise appearance. It’s the kind of weather that keeps you on your toes… but in the most beautiful way possible.

So instead of overpacking or underpreparing, here’s your go-to guide to packing just right for four days of slow travel, meaningful moments, and a whole lot of mountain magic ✨

Average expected temperatures:

  • Expected daytime temperature: 26°C – 30°C
  • Expected nighttime temperature: 14°C – 18°C
  • Average temperature: ~22°C – 23°C

👗 Clothing: Think light layers, always

Bir in May is all about layering smartly.

What to carry:
• 2–3 breathable cotton tops / kurtas
• 1–2 comfortable bottom wear (trousers, jeans, or flowy pants)
• 1 light sweater or sweatshirt (for evenings)
• 1 warm layer (jacket/shawl) for early mornings & toy train ride
• 1 easy outfit for lounging / café hopping
• Sleepwear

• MM&Co. special Bollywood fun asks you to bring one colourful saree! For 9 yards of your classic beauty in the hills. <3

Pro tip: That sunset at the landing site gets breezy. You’ll thank yourself for carrying that extra layer.

👟 Footwear: Comfort over everything

This trip isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about strolling through tea estates, monastery paths, and quiet village trails.

Carry:
• 1 pair of sturdy walking shoes with good support
• 1 pair of easy slip-ons / sandals for the room

Skip anything brand new. Your feet deserve better than blisters.

🌦️ Weather essentials:

Because mountains like surprises. Even though May is mostly sunny, Bir can always shower you with a sudden drizzle.

Carry:
• Compact rain coat / poncho
• Sunglasses
• Cap or hat

That golden sun in Palampur tea estates? Stunning. Also slightly harsh at noon.

🧴 Personal essentials

• Sunscreen (non-negotiable in the mountains!)

• Personal toiletries
• Lip balm & moisturiser (mountain air = dry skin)
• Basic medicines + personal prescriptions
• Motion sickness meds (for hill drives, just in case)

🧘‍♀️ For experiences

This itinerary is full of slow, mindful moments.

• Something comfortable for the pottery workshop
• A small tote/backpack for day outings
• Reusable water bottle

📸 Optional but nice-to-have

• A shawl or scarf (doubles up for warmth + photos!)
• Light snacks for train nostalgia moments

• Any card games/ fun games that you may have to play with your travel companions

🛍️ Leave some space in your bag for those forever favourite souvenirs!

From handwoven woollens to singing bowls and little café finds… you will want to shop.

💛 Final note from us

This isn’t a trip where you need to “prepare perfectly.”

It’s one where you arrive, exhale, and let the mountains do their thing.

Pack light. Pack smart. And most importantly, pack a little space for yourself.

Please note: in light of LPG issues there can be some on ground changes in food options. As travellers let us be accommodating of the same.

Because somewhere between monastery bells, tea gardens, and sunset skies… you’ll find it 🌿
