Ultimate Packing List for Bali for women!

Whether it’s your first international holiday or your much-awaited girls’ getaway, packing smart makes all the difference. At Migrant Musings & Co., we organize special trips for women between 45 – 65 years for them to explore, bond and experience things that they never got to in their younger years. And, this September, we’re headed to Bali. We’ve put together this Bali packing guide especially catering to them. From temples and beaches to island-hopping and cultural evenings, here’s everything you need to know before zipping up that suitcase.

1. Visa for Bali – Why We Recommend the E-Visa

Indian travellers can either get a Visa on Arrival or apply in advance for an e-Visa. We recommend applying for the e-Visa before your trip to avoid standing in long queues. 👉 Apply directly through the official Indonesian immigration website: https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/

Documents required for the e-Visa usually include:

  • Passport with 6 months validity

  • Return flight ticket

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Travel insurance details

Once approved, carry a printout of your e-Visa along with your passport. You can even apply via Atlys for an easier process.

2. Currency & Expenses in Bali

On average, travellers spend around USD 400–450 for meals, shopping, and optional activities over a week-long trip. Actual expenses may vary depending on shopping choices, food preferences, and activities.

💡 Pro tip: Carry USD in cash from India. You’ll get a better exchange rate when converting to Indonesian Rupiah locally. On Day 1 of our trips, our trip leader usually guides the group to safe, trusted money changers.

You can also use forex cards. Make sure to activate the card before leaving for your trip. Niyo Global is a good one which we recommend.

3. What to Wear in Bali

Bali is tropical, warm, and relaxed, so think light, breezy, and comfortable.

  • Flip-flops & sandals for beaches

  • One pair of sturdy shoes for temple visits and explorations

  • Bright dresses, tees, kaftans — it’s your beach trip, go colourful!

  • 1 swimsuit — for beach visit and pool time, you’ll definitely use these

  • Sarong or long scarf — mandatory for temple visits like Uluwatu and Tirta Empul

  • Light rain jacket/poncho — September can bring the occasional shower

4. Beach & Swim Essentials

  • Sunscreen (lots of it!)

  • Sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat/cap

  • Water socks — useful at beaches with pebbles or shells

  • Extra towel for beach days

  • Polybags or wet bags for swimsuits

5. Health & Safety Must-Haves

  • Your prescription medicines

  • Pain balms, general first-aid, and motion sickness tablets (essential for the fast boat to Nusa Penida)

  • Hand sanitiser and wet wipes

  • Travel insurance (mandatory for all MM&Co. trips, and highly recommended in general). You can consider ICICI Lombard.

6. Tech & Handy Extras

  • International adapters (Bali uses Type C/F round two-pin plugs)

  • Small backpack or tote for day trips

  • Power bank for charging on the go

  • UNO, playing cards, Frisbee, or a mini speaker — because our evenings often turn into giggle-filled game nights

7. Bonus Tip

In the weeks leading up to your trip, try fitting in a 30-minute daily walk. It’ll help you feel more comfortable for all the walking, exploring, and spontaneous dancing that Bali has in store.

8. Pack Light

Please note: Only 1 suitcase is allowed per person. 1 handbag and 1 suitcase only, kindly, adhere to this mandatory requirement as our logistical arrangements are made that way.

Final Word

Packing right means you can focus less on logistics and more on what truly matters — sunsets, temples, beaches, laughter, and sisterhood.

At Migrant Musings & Co., our women-only trips to Bali are peer-led, designed to be fun, safe, and full of unforgettable memories.
