Wayanad Packing Guide

wayanad travel essentials and packing guide

Wayanad in February is one of those sweet spots – green landscapes, pleasant weather, and just enough adventure to keep things exciting without feeling exhausting. But since this trip packs in kayaking, a trek, forest streams, and pool time (yes please), packing right will make everything smoother.

1. Before you start packing

First, let’s look at our expected temperatures:

Keep these basics easy to access:

      • Government ID (Aadhaar / Driving License)
      • Phone charger + power bank (you’ll be clicking photos, playing music and more :p)
      • Cash for small local stops (chai, snacks, quick buys)
      • Reusable water bottle
      • Small day backpack for treks and outings

Remember this is a short trip – pack light. You’ll thank yourself.

2. Clothes to pack

First, let’s look at our expected temperatures:

  • During Day: 24 – 28°C
  • During Early mornings & nights: 18 – 22°C

(Days will be pleasantly warm and mostly dry, great for treks, kayaking and outdoor activities. Evenings and early mornings can feel cool, especially around tea estates and higher elevations. Light mist is common, and there’s a small chance of brief showers.)

We urge you to please also cross-check temperatures closer to your date of travel, as weather patterns can change.

Pack comfortable, breathable clothes — Wayanad in February is pleasant but active.

  • Light cotton T-shirts / tops
  • Comfortable trek pants, joggers or leggings
  • Shorts or easy trousers for lounging
  • Quick-dry clothes (useful for kayaking & stream dips)
  • Full-length bottoms (protects from grass & insects)
  • Light cap or hat
  • Small towel or scarf
  • Swimwear
  • Poolside outfit / easy lounge wear
  • One nice dress/ shirt for the second night to dress up and let our hair down together!

3. Footwear

  • Good trekking or sports shoes (non-negotiable for Chembra)
  • Flip-flops / sliders for the property & pool

4. Rental options and special discount for MM&CO travellers

We understand that a lot of things required during your travels may not be needed by you after that one trip, thus, meet SharePal available with rental, pick up and delivery options across 6 major cities. Anddd, with some exclusive discount codes for our MM travellers 🙂

5. Miscellaneous

    • Sunscreen (yes, even in the hills)
    • Sunglasses
    • Power bank
  • While our trip leader carries a basic first aid kit, if you’re on some medication or susceptible to some form of illness while travelling, please carry the requisite medicine.

6. Little extras that make the trip better

These aren’t essential, but they add to the experience:

    • UNO / cards (great ice-breakers)
    • Bluetooth speaker
    • A shawl or scarf
    • Journal or book (quiet moments hit differently here)

7. Final Tip

Wayanad isn’t about dressing up — it’s about being present. Walking through tea estates, laughing during games, sharing stories on treks, and ending days tired in the best way.

Pack light, stay flexible, and let the place do its thing 🌿
